THE C&E INTERVIEW: JO BOZARTH

It seems kind of crazy that we haven't already done a C&E Interview with Eros herself, the lovely and talented Jo Bozarth. Jo is not only one of the stars of the show, but she was also one of the earliest people involved in its creation.  C&E simply wouldn't exist as we know it, if Jo hadn't been the inspiration behind making Eros female... and if Jo hadn't then made her such a fun, complex and interesting character.

So today, with our first story-arc coming to a close on it's new, ad-free, home of JTS.TV, it seemed like a good idea to finally rectify that situation.  After the jump, learn when she decided she would be an actress, how she thinks Eros changed over the course of Season 1, and how she would have accepted her Indie Intertube Award for best acress in a comedy if she'd been able to do so live.

Avi, Josh & Jo Talk Love Stories on the Web on Web Series Watch

On February 27th, Web Series Watch hosts, Cindy Marie Jenkins and Patty Jean Robinson welcomed myself, Josh, Jo and fellow web creators Darren Chadwick (The Bloody Mary Show), Otessa Ghadar (Orange Juice in Bishop's Garden) and Caryn C. Hayes (Breaking Point) to talk about telling love stories on the web.

Livestreamed and recorded via Google Hangout, the conversation was part of the CREATORS WATCH spin off series of Web Series Watch, a review show dedicated to helping viewers navigate the wild west of teh web series world.  During the 46 minute show we talked about the freedom of the web, telling different kinds of love stories, bad 90's flannel, trained monkeys, and exploding queens.  It was awesome.  Check it out below.

THE C&E INTERVIEW: JOSH HEINE

When you make a show where the main character’s name is in its very title, it’s a pretty good bet that whoever you cast in that role is going to be a big part of your life.  That has certainly been the case with C&E, and Josh Heine.  Lucky for me, Josh is not only an amazingly talented actor, but he’s also been an extremely great collaborator.

I’ve actually known Josh since we were both at NYU, but unlike some of the other cast members, we’d lost touch for several years before reconnecting.  I guess the fates had a hand in putting us both in the right place at the right time to be able to team up on C&E.  In honor of Valentine’s Day, I thought it’d be cool to revive our semi regular C&E Interview feature so we could catch up with Josh.   After the jump, get his take on the show, learn why he wanted to become and actor, and find out how he would accepted an award or best actor.

Jo Bozarth WINS "Best Actress in a Comedy" at the 2nd Annual Indie Intertube Awards

IndieIntertube Winner Best Actress.jpg

We're thrilled to announce that Eros herself, Jo Bozarth, was honored this past Sunday, March 11th 2012 with the Indie Intertube Award for "Best Actress in a Comedy"

For those that don't know, Indie Intertube is a twice weekly (radio podcast on Wednesday and Video cast on Sunday) devoted to covering all that's hot and streaming in the world of independent online content.

C&E was nominated for 5 Indie Intertube Awards this year:

  • "Best Dramedy"
  • "Best Actor in a Comedy" - Josh Heine
  • "Best Actress in a Comedy" - Jo Bozarth
  • "Best Additional Content"
  • "Smexiest Actress" (smart+sexy = smexy) - Also, Jo Bozarth.

Jo's win, in addition to being well deserved (Sure we're biased, but we think it's true), is even more exciting since she beat out an amazingly talented field of nominees including Emma Caulfield (Bandwagon, Buffy), Kelsey Robinson (GirlParts),  Julie Ann Emery (Then We Got Help), Joanna Gaskell (Standard Action), Renee Olbert (Once You Leave) and last year's winner Stacy McQueen of Pretty.

You can see the full list of winners at IndieIntertube.tv as well as a full list of the nominees.

Thanks so much to everyone who watched along with us and sent us their support and congratulations.

And of course, thank you to April and Amanda of Indie Intertube--for honoring Jo's work, C&E, and for all they do for indie creators.

IAWTV, THE PICKS: "Best Comedy" and Wrap Up

Well, the moment of truth is almost upon us. Tomorrow, Wednesday December 14th at 10 AM PST the nominees for the 1st annual IAWTV awards will be announced live. Regardless of whether or not we find ourselves fortunate enough to have scored a nomination (or two?), we've had a great time using this as an excuse to revisit our first season and share some of our thought process with you all. And of course it's been great to hear what YOU have to say, and which episodes you feel are our best. We have one last category left, “Best Comedy” but we thought we'd do something a bit different this week. Instead of focusing on the episode we picked for that category we thought we'd compile a list of some of the stuff we haven't been able to showcase yet.

So check out some of our favorite moments of Season 1 after the jump, and then make sure to watch along with us tomorrow as the nominations are announced live by Shira Lazar and Ethan Newberry at the What's Trending Studios. You can watch along with us here: http://bit.ly/wtchill

IAWTV, THE PICKS: "BEST MALE PERFORMANCE"

We're almost to the end here folks. Last friday the nomination process came to a close and now all we can do is wait for the folks at What's Trending to announce the nominees live on December 14th. But even though the voting has passed we still have a few picks to discuss and some praises to sing.

Last week we talked about the episode we thought highlighted the talent of Jo Bozarth and today it's time for her guy friday to get some much deserved kudos. Yep, it's time to talk about Cupid himself, Josh Heine.

Our pick, after the jump.

IAWTV, THE PICKS: "Best Female Performance"

As we enter a month that will be full of celebrations with those we love, it is only fitting that we begin the month by celebrating our pick for the IAWTV Best Female Peformance category episode for one of the characters we've loved from the very beginning, Jo Bozarth as Eros.  Once it was decided that Eros would be female, Avi wrote the character with Jo in mind.   Embodying someone as unique and strong as Eros was a natural fit for Jo and with the completion of Season 1, it is aparent that this character was meant for her.

Find out which episode we felt showcases Jo's acting talents after the jump.

The C&E INTERVIEW: Kiera Anderson (Jo/Josephine)

Today we're screening the Short Film Version of THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF CUPID AND EROS at the 2011 Valley Film Festival.  Andy and I have already shared stories about how C&E morphed from its original short film concept into the web series we all know and love, but we also thought it'd be a fun excuse to catch up with some of the people behind the show and our fellow festival-mates.

First up, the lovely and talented Kiera Anderson who plays Cupid's object of desire in our first story arc.

One of the great things about being an independent creator is that I get to cast and write for the ridiculously talented people I'm fortunate enough to call friends.  In a lot of cases I write with a specific actor in mind, but the role of Josephine was the rare exception where I really wasn't sure who I was going to ask.  It was actually our very own Eros, Jo Bozarth, who suggested our good friend Kiera. As soon as she did I knew the role had been written for her all along.  I was just lucky she said yes.

Kiera took time out from her most important role, mother to an awesome little lady name Juna Meredith Anderson to answer some questions via email.

See what she's been up to and what her experience on C&E was like after the jump.
