THE C&E INTERVIEW: BRADFORD ANDERSON

On december 19th the fine folks at We Love Soaps announced the nominees for their 3rd annual Indie Soap Awards.  We were thrilled to find out that our own Bradford Anderson was nominated in the "Best Guest Appearance (comedy)" category for his portrayal of Achilles in episodes 7-9.

Most C&E fans know that Bradford and I have been friends since freshman year at NYU.  In fact, he's the only person, that's been attached to the project longer than our original core crew (Andy, Jo Bozarth, Erin Wilson, and Jefferson).  I first came up with the concept and wrote the initial treatment while living with Bradford in NYC!  So, as you can imagine, I was really happy that he's getting some much deserved recognition for his performance. And so in honor of his nomination, and hopefully win, at the Indie Soap Awards we thought it'd be a great oppurtunity to chat with Brad about C&E, his training as an actor, and all the other projects on his plate.

Check out our interview after the jump!

2011, THE C&E YEAR IN REVIEW THANK YOU

It's hard to believe that New Year's Eve is already upon us.  Even harder to believe that it was a year ago, Jan 3rd to be exact, that we launched our 1st season of THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF CUPID & EROS in earnest.

It's been a wild ride and we wouldn't trade any of the the ups and downs for anything.  Today, we just wanted to use our blog to thank some of the people who've helped us along the way.  We were going to do it all via twitter, but then we realized we'd be flooding people's streams for at least an hour if we had to do things 140 characters at a time.

So a look back, and our thanks, after the jump.

IAWTV, THE PICKS: "Best Comedy" and Wrap Up

Well, the moment of truth is almost upon us. Tomorrow, Wednesday December 14th at 10 AM PST the nominees for the 1st annual IAWTV awards will be announced live. Regardless of whether or not we find ourselves fortunate enough to have scored a nomination (or two?), we've had a great time using this as an excuse to revisit our first season and share some of our thought process with you all. And of course it's been great to hear what YOU have to say, and which episodes you feel are our best. We have one last category left, “Best Comedy” but we thought we'd do something a bit different this week. Instead of focusing on the episode we picked for that category we thought we'd compile a list of some of the stuff we haven't been able to showcase yet.

So check out some of our favorite moments of Season 1 after the jump, and then make sure to watch along with us tomorrow as the nominations are announced live by Shira Lazar and Ethan Newberry at the What's Trending Studios. You can watch along with us here: http://bit.ly/wtchill

IAWTV, THE PICKS: "BEST MALE PERFORMANCE"

We're almost to the end here folks. Last friday the nomination process came to a close and now all we can do is wait for the folks at What's Trending to announce the nominees live on December 14th. But even though the voting has passed we still have a few picks to discuss and some praises to sing.

Last week we talked about the episode we thought highlighted the talent of Jo Bozarth and today it's time for her guy friday to get some much deserved kudos. Yep, it's time to talk about Cupid himself, Josh Heine.

Our pick, after the jump.

IAWTV, THE PICKS: "Best Female Performance"

As we enter a month that will be full of celebrations with those we love, it is only fitting that we begin the month by celebrating our pick for the IAWTV Best Female Peformance category episode for one of the characters we've loved from the very beginning, Jo Bozarth as Eros.  Once it was decided that Eros would be female, Avi wrote the character with Jo in mind.   Embodying someone as unique and strong as Eros was a natural fit for Jo and with the completion of Season 1, it is aparent that this character was meant for her.

Find out which episode we felt showcases Jo's acting talents after the jump.

IAWTV Awards, The Picks: "Best Editing"

This Thanksgiving week it's only fitting that we talk about a category that highlights allows us to give thanks to one of the best friends a director and producer can have when working on an indie production: the Editor.

In our case, that editor is Matthew Smith... the guy whose job over 9 episodes of C&E and multiple other projects has been to help us look good, while occasionally saving us from our worst impulses.

Our pick to submit for "Best Editing" and the reasons why after the jump.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS FROM THE OTHER SIDE

In his blog “Of Short Films and Series,” Avi gave an excellent picture of how an idea that came to light in 2001 eventually grew into the Cupid and Eros web series. This is what excites me so much about the creative process and how one should never give up on an idea that has been in the back of their minds. It also highlights that you need to surround yourself with people that also have a passion for creating and that share in your vision. Of course the picture may change slightly, as Avi noted that Eros was originally a guy and through our discussions (I don’t recall if I was the one to recommend this change but thanks Avi for the shout out), making Eros female took the idea to the next level and allowed the characters to expand in scope, emotions and conflicts.

Welcome to the new cupidaneros.com!

Hello there C&E fans,

If you’ve been a frequent visitor to our little corner of the interweb you may have noticed that things look a bit different around here.  That’s because Andy and I have been hard at work trying to come up with ways to do a few different things:

  1. We want cupidanderos.com to be a great, easily navigable, home for all the episodes and ancillary content our extraordinary cast and crew have helped us create over the past year and change.
  2. We want to make it easy for you, the spectacular community who’ve embraced us, to see what we’re up to, revisit past content, share the show with people you think might like it, and help usher us towards a season 2.

We’ve made a number of changes to the structure and feel of the site to help us do both those things.  A run down of a few of them after the jump.
